Steps for Using Dentures

Posted .

Were you aware that the average age of false teeth is 16 years old? And were you aware that if you take care of your dentures, it’s possible that they could last even longer than that? We hope that the following data on caring for dentures can be useful for you and/or a loved one.

Using false teeth may seem simple, but there are some things you should do if you want them to last as long as possible. Dentures should be cleaned at least once per day since plaque and tartar can accumulate on them, just as they do for real pearly whites. Accumulation can damage the tight fit of dentures and may decrease their luster over time. Clean the false teeth by brushing them two times a day, then let them sit in a glass of non-abrasive dental cleaner so they can stay moist overnight; always remember to flush them off with water after they’ve sat in the cleaning solution. This will allow the dentures to become clean and help your mouth to heal itself. (Sleeping with false teeth still in your oral cavity is like donning shoes to bed!)
